Saad Abdulmumin
Dr. Saad Abdulmumin, MD, MPH, Ph.D., is the Senior Program Officer, Impact at Scale in the Family Planning team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation providing leadership to sustainably drive impact of family planning interventions at scale. He has most recently served as the Senior Advisor and Deputy Incident Commander for the COVID-19 response at the Bureau for Global Health, USAID Washington, DC. He is a seasoned epidemiologist, a medical doctor, a public health specialist, and a professional personal leadership and executive coach. He has provided technical and strategic leadership in the USAID COVID-19 response and served as the co-moderator/co-chair of the USG Interagency COVID-19 Technical Coordination. Saad has extensive expertise in epidemic management, SRH/family planning, HIV prevention and treatment, health system strengthening, MNCH, implementation research, data and analytics including monitoring and evaluation, with broad experience in Asia and Africa. In the recent past, he was the Senior Epidemiologist and Reproductive Health Advisor at the Office of Population and Reproductive Health, USAID Washington, DC where he provided technical guidance and leadership for program development and reviewing and coordinating epidemiological and biological research, and the technical leadership for the ECHO Trial. He has been deeply involved in the design and implementation of project monitoring and evaluation plans and training of health workers in a number of countries. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented in many international conferences. He served as a reviewer to several peer-reviewed journals and is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief to the Global Health: Science and Practice journal.
