Angel Kharya

Angel Kharya is a gender and social behavior change (SBC) specialist with over ten years of experience in the international development sector. She currently works with Girl Effect, where she spearheads development of SBC impact strategies and leads the integration of gender-transformative approaches across programs in Asia and Africa. Her work spans key areas such as sexual and reproductive health and rights, mental health and wellbeing, immunization, and economic empowerment — with a focus on demand generation through digital content, chatbots, and community-based interventions.

Previously, Angel co-led the operations and management of Girl Rising in India, where she played a pivotal role in elevating the visibility of their programs on global platforms. She has also worked with the Division for Gender Equality at UNESCO headquarters and UNICEF France. A member of the 2018 cohort of the Women Deliver Young Leaders program, Angel holds a Master’s in International Development from Sciences Po Paris as an Eiffel Excellence Scholar and a Bachelor's in History from Lady Shri Ram College, where she was awarded the Golden Key for her exceptional academic achievements.
